The TVCC Cardinals keep winning and people are beginning to take notice. The Cardinals jumped to No. 4 in the national rankings this week after beating Tyler Saturday, 31-23.
Next up for the 4-0 Cardinals are the Cisco Wranglers, who bring a 1-2 record into Bruce Field 3 p.m. Saturday.
Cisco is coming off its first-ever undefeated season in the spring and its first Southwest Junior College Football Conference championship, but they have lost many of the players from that team.
"I think they're still trying to find their identity," TVCC Coach Sherard Poteete said. "They've gotten better every week."
Coach Poteete said one of the keys to this game is being able to establish the run and eliminate turnovers. The weather could be a factor Saturday.
"Who knows what kind of weather we may have," he said. "It could be a little wet, it could be a little slippery out there. Can a team go out there and not turn the football over in wet conditions. I think that will play a huge role. So, can we be disciplined enough this week to take care of the football."
Listen in on my chat with Coach Poteete to hear more about Cisco, how it benefits TVCC to have so many players involved on offense, and the role faith is playing in this team.
