With two weeks off between games, Coach Poteete discusses how the team handled the layoff and maintained their energy in practice. He’s been impressed with the Cardinals’ intensity throughout the week and their focus as they prepare for the start of conference play.
"I just so pleased with how our guys responded this week," said Coach Poteete. "I thought our energy level was so high."
Preview of the Tyler Apaches Game
The Cardinals will hit the road for the first time this season to take on their conference rivals, the Tyler Apaches. Coach Poteete emphasizes the strength of Tyler’s defense, particularly their aggressive front seven, which has been putting pressure on opponents. He expects Tyler to come out swinging after an 0-2 start and warns that TVCC needs to take care of the football and avoid costly mistakes.
He also touched on the importance of preparing the players for the atmosphere at Rose Stadium, with a loud crowd and ESPN+ coverage adding an extra layer of pressure.

The Cardinals (1-0) travel to Tyler to take on the Apaches (0-2) in their first conference game of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday at Rose Stadium.
