TVCC on the road to face New Mexico Military Institute

This interview was recorded Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the TVCC Field House.

The TVCC Cardinals are on the road this week to take on New Mexico Military Institute.

The Cardinals enter the game with a 3-3 conference record, in a four-way tie for third place with Blinn, Kilgore, and Cisco.

All those teams are fighting for a playoff spot on the final weekend of the year, but TVCC may have drawn the toughest assignment with NMMI, which leads the conference with a 5-1 record.

"Basically, the playoffs start for us a week early," said TVCC Coach Sherard Poteete.

The Cardinals have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. It has been so bad that last week two offensive players had to move to the other side of the ball to play linebacker and the backup quarterback was playing on special teams.

The two positions that have been hit the hardest are quarterback and offensive line. The Cardinals have had five QBs take snaps this year and have started three different quarterbacks in the last three games.

But none of that will matter on Saturday.

"Gotta go win," said Coach Poteete. "That's all we can really do anyway, it doesn't really matter what somebody else does, we can't control that."
