Henderson County Commissioners Court has a new member. Mark Richardson was sworn in as the Pct. 4 Commissioner Wednesday afternoon.
Richardson takes over for Milburn Chaney, who stepped down Wednesday, County Judge Wade McKinney said during our weekly interview.
Chaney filled the seat left vacant with Ken Geeslin passed away in December 2019. He decided to step aside after Richardson won election in the Republican Primary runoff last week.
“I call (Chaney) a statesman for the long service he has given to the county,” McKinney said.
Because Richardson is finishing an unexpired term, his seat will be up for election again in two years.
The new commissioner will step right into the county’s budget process, and the Judge speaks about the impact of a strange 2020 on the budget starting at the 12:35 mark.
