In this week's interview with Henderson County Judge Wade McKinney, we talk about:
-- FEMA volunteers being in the county because of the February snow storm. They are here to help uninsured and under-insured individuals apply for help with damages. (1:30)
Here is the link to the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool we reference in the podcast.
-- Commissioners Court approved a resolution supporting a Texas Community Development Block Grant application by the Crescent Heights Water Supply Corporation. This grant is for $350,000 and requires a $17,500 match. Judge McKinney talks about the importance of these grants, how the county mainly reserves them for rural water districts, and the cost of infrastructure repairs. (10:42)
-- The new digital communication system being built by the county is getting closer to being finished. The county did add about $1.8 million to the project (now a $6.3 million total) to make sure it owned the tower and to expand the system to 5 towers. Judge McKinney discusses the reasons for these changes. The system is expected to go online within the next month. (19:20)
