The Athens Hornets (4-0, 0-5) will be on the road to visit rival Mabank Friday night to finish off the 2020 season.
The Panthers (3-6, 0-5) are playing better than their record suggests, according to Coach Zac Harrell.
"(Coach Hudson) has them playing as hard as any Mabank team since I've seen Mabank play," Harrell said during our podcast this week. "They present a great challenge."
Mabank is a running team that looks to pound the ball from a Wing T formation and shorten the game. The Panthers will play multiple fronts on the offensive side.
The word of the week for the Hornets is "fight."
"We've been faced with a ton of adversity and a ton of difficulty," Harrell said. "We kind of feel like we've been backed into a corner, and when you are backed into a corner, hey, grit your teeth and fight out of it and battle."
Every week, Coach Harrell lists the four keys to the game. This week's keys include:
Line up correctly on defense.
Limit self-inflicting wounds on offense.
Play with relentless effort.
Win the turnover battle.
