After spending a couple of minutes talking about St. Patrick's Day, County Judge Wade McKinney and I discussed four main issues.
I. The County Budget (3:17): The County budget process for 2022 should kickoff next month with departments discussing their needs. Judge McKinney walks us through the process and how much technology has changed things over the years.
II. Renaming State Highway 198 (9:50): State Rep. Keith Bell has filed a bill to rename the portion of State Highway 198 in Henderson County between its intersection with the Kaufman County line and its intersection with State Highway 31 as the Deputy Sheriff Tony Ogburn and Deputy Sheriff Paul Habelt Memorial Highway. This week, Commissioners Court approved a resolution supporting the bill.
III. COVID Vaccination Clinics (11:40): After a long wait, COVID vaccination clinics have come to Henderson County. Last week, Henderson County and Family Circle of Care combined for their first clinic. That was followed by a state vaccination clinic. This Friday, the County and Family Circle of Care will hold another clinic and UT Health Athens also has a clinic scheduled. You can sign up for County vaccination clinics here. https://bit.ly/countyregistration
IV. Henderson County Livestock Show (22:55): The Henderson County Livestock Show is scheduled for March 22-27. Judge McKinney and I talk about the importance of the Livestock Show and what it means for Henderson County. You can find more information about the HCLS on their website here. https://www.hclsathens.com/
