What's Happening: Early voting begins Monday; Congratulations, Lauren
Early voting in the Nov. 2 general election begins Monday, Oct. 18.
Statewide, there are 8 Constitutional Amendments on the ballot. You can learn what those are here.
In addition, there are several local elections which you can learn about here.
Early voting will be conducted at the Henderson County Elections Center in Athens, the Chandler Community Center, and Lakeview Assembly of God Church in Seven Points on the following days:
Monday, Oct. 18 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 19 to Friday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 25 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 26 to Friday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Henderson County Election Center in Athens will also be open for early voting Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CONGRATS, LAUREN!
Athens High School graduate Lauren Green is joining the law firm of Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossberg & Knuff, LLC.
A press release on the firm's website reads: "A consummate professional and tireless legal advocate, Lauren joined the firm following two litigation externships where she worked on a variety of matters before federal and state courts. She cultivated razor-sharp skills drafting pleadings, preparing for depositions, and refining courtroom practice, including leading a guilty plea in North Carolina's highest trial court.
"Lauren's passion for legal study was ignited at the Texas Office of the Attorney General, where she conducted complex examinations on issues ranging from the Governor's COVID-19 policies to employment matters. She has also piloted research relating to Title IX and Clery Act compliance."
Lauren graduated from Athens High School, TVCC, and the University of Texas. She then earned her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the School of Law at Wake Forest University, where she was the Articles Editor for the Wake Forest Journal of Law & Policy and served as the Vice President of the Women in Law Association.
Lauren is the daughter of Athens attorney Steve Green and TVCC Director of Student Pathways Janet Green.

RACE CAR FRIDAY
Fort Worth Screen Printing and Bayley Currey have teamed up for the Andy's Frozen Custard 335 at Texas Motor Speedway with NASCAR Xfinity Series team JD Motorsports. Currey will drive the No. 15 entry.
In addition to Fort Worth Screen Printing being the primary sponsor, Athens Screen Printing and Athens-based Frelancers Esports will be present on Currey's No. 15.

HORNETS TO PLAY LINDALE
The Athens Hornets are coming off their open week with a 4-2 record. They return to action Friday night when they hit the road to take on the 4-3 Lindale Eagles.
Lindale was the state runners up last season and offer a difficult challenge for the Hornets.

PUMPKIN PATCH
Visit the Pumpkin Patch on the corner of S. Carroll and East Tyler streets (by First Presbyterian Church) for photo opportunities and kids' crafts. The Pumpkin Patch will be open Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. - 7 p.m., Friday-Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. -5 p.m.
There are pumpkins of all sizes, varieties, and price points. Restrooms are available.
This is a fundraiser for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy.
