(POSTPONED) Unity Walk scheduled for MLK Day in Athens
EVENT POSTPONED UNTIL FEB. 24.

An MLK Unity Walk will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in celebration of Martin Luther King Day.
Participants will depart from The Texan up North Underwood Street to Edmonson Street, then turn around and walk back to The Texan.
Activities at The Texan following the walk will include:
- Music from the MLK Community Choir
- Recitation of Dr. King's Letter from Birmingham Jail
- Keynote Speaker, the Rev. Darryle Bowdre
- Recitation of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech
Prizes will be awarded for the Martin Luther King Jr. Art Competition, which was open to all K through 12th grade students in Henderson County. The theme for 2024 is "Living The Dream: It Starts With Me."
Awards include:
1st Place: $100 Gift card from Walmart
2nd Place: $75 Gift card from Walmart
3rd Place: $50 Gift card from Walmart
Food trucks will also be available.
All are invited to attend this event hosted by Building Athens Together (B.A.T.), the City of Athens, and the Athens Chamber of Commerce.
