Trinity Valley Community College head women’s soccer coach Jimmy Elder has announced his retirement.
The retirement ends a long and successful career that included five NJCAA Division 3 championships at Brookhaven College and a remarkable turnaround in one season at the helm of the Cardinal program.
“Jimmy met our expectations for turning our program around,” TVCC athletic director Eddie Kite said. “He leaves it in better shape than he found it.”
Kite said a national search for Elder’s replacement would begin immediately.
Elder inherited a Cardinal women’s soccer program that was 3-43 its first three seasons and went 11-4, which included eight shutout wins, a win against nationally-ranked Tyler, a first-ever regional tournament win and an appearance in the regional semifinals. The Cardinals went 9-3 in conference action.
He arrived at TVCC in January of 2024 after guiding Brookhaven to its national. Elder was 121-24-9 at Brookhaven.
A former professional soccer player, Elder played for the Oklahoma City Slickers, the Dallas Americans and the Houston Dynamo of the American Professional Soccer League and the United Professional Soccer League.
The native Texan had a stellar playing career at Midwestern State University. He also played professionally in multiple leagues.
