Mark McMillan has returned to the Cardinal football program at Trinity Valley Community College.
After a two-year stint as defensive line coach at Hardin-Simmons University, McMillan rejoins Sherard Poteete’s staff as defensive coordinator. He replaces longtime defensive coordinator Will Reed, who left recently to become the defensive coordinator at Southern Arkansas University.
“I am so excited to have Mark back with us,” Poteete said. “He is an excellent fit for our coaching staff -- a young, energetic coach who is wise beyond his years.
“I can’t wait to see his brand of defense running around at The Valley.”
McMillian originally came to TVCC as defensive line coach in 2017. He left for the 2018 season to enter private business and returned in 2019. McMillan then moved on to Hardin-Simmons for two successful seasons.
Prior to his initial arrival at TVCC, McMillan spent three years as a graduate assistant at the University of California. He also spent a year at the University of Cincinnati, assisting with the defensive line and being in charge of defensive quality control.
McMillan has also spent a season at Texas Tech University as a student assistant.
A native of Wimberly, he is a graduate of Texas Tech, where he earned his undergraduate degree in history. He has a master’s in public health from Cal.
