Trinity Valley Community College President Dr. Jason Morrison kicked off an energetic fall semester during the Fall Convocation on Monday, Aug. 19, in the Athens Campus ballroom.
"I'm going to challenge you this fall," Dr. Morrison said. "In everything you do, in all aspects of your day, bring energy to everyone around you. Bring it to your co-workers, bring it to your colleagues. I want you to bring energy to every student you have contact with so that they know you care about them and want them to be successful. When we bring energy as individuals, we'll have energy as a group. When we have energy as a team, we'll have energy as a college. And if we have energy as a college, we'll have energy as a community, and that energy will spread across the state. Plain and simple."
During the convocation, Dr. Morrison also updated faculty and staff on upcoming renovations and updates across the campuses. These include sidewalk repairs, front entry drainage repairs, courtyard drainage improvements, and auditorium renovations to the Anderson building on the Palestine campus.
"What we are doing now is making an investment in our campus," Morrison explained. "Over the last few months, if you add up what we've gotten approved and what we've started, we're looking at nearly a four-million-dollar investment in our campus. We're going to work on improving all aspects of our college, and all campuses are going to benefit."
