TVCC drops homecoming game to Navarro, 61-40
The Navarro Bulldogs scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to break open a seesaw contest Saturday afternoon and send the TVCC Cardinals down to a 61-40 homecoming defeat at Bruce Field.
The loss is the second straight for the Cardinals, who fall to 5-2, 3-2 while Navarro improves to 4-4, 2-4.
The normally stout TVCC defense struggled in the second half, giving up four long touchdowns. Navarro scored on runs of 65 and 31 yards and on pass plays of 95 and 77 yards in the half.
At the same time, the Cardinals were dealing with injuries to their top two quarterbacks, resulting in problems on the offensive side of the ball. The Cardinals threw three interceptions in the second half including one that was returned 87 yards for the final score of the afternoon.
The Cardinals led at the half, 27-20.
TVCC will take to the road next Saturday when they take on Kilgore. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
