TVCC basketball splits games on Monday night

Monday night was one of mixed results for the Cardinals and Lady Cards.
The Cardinals fell 79-73 at home to Lee and the 12th-ranked Lady Cards held on for a 70-69 road win against Angelina.
MEN’S GAME
Jakevion Buckley led the Cardinals with 24 points, hitting 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Issakha Niang and Quevian Adger also scored in double figures with 20 and 13, respectively.
The Cardinals led 40-36 at the half.
The Cardinals hit just 2-of-14 three-point shots.
The Cardinals fell to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in Region XIV Conference.
The Cardinals are scheduled to travel Wednesday to Paris. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
WOMEN’S GAME
Niyah Page hit a free throw with 4.3 seconds left to lift the Lady Cards past Angelina.
The win improved the Lady Cards to 15-2 on the season. They are 5-2 in the conference.
Page led the Lady Cards with 17 points. Abby Cater had 16 and Briana Peguero and Ahsha Spencer 11 each.
The Lady Cards led 43-40 at the half and 61-51 after three quarters.
The Lady Cards were 16-of-31 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to be at home Wednesday against Coastal Bend. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
