The Henderson County Performing Arts Center (HCPAC) celebrated a successful 2022 while kicking off its 59th year of shows Sunday afternoon at the annual ALTY Awards.
"It's exciting to recognize all the people who are involved at the theater, whether on the stage, behind the stage, or in the technical areas," said HCPAC Board President Mark Roberts.
More than 20 awards were presented, including:
Volunteer of the Year -- Joclyn Ewers
Best Actress in a Drama or Comedy -- Ami Hickmon
Best Actor in a Drama or Comedy -- Griff Griffis and Troy Martin
Best Actress in a Musical -- Mimi Caronna
Best Actor in a Musical -- Daniel Holmes
Best Drama or Comedy -- "The Play That Goes Wrong"
Best Musical -- "Bye Bye Birdie"
Treasurer JoAnn Johnson's report was also worth celebrating.
She reported that the shows in 2022 saw a 75 percent attendance rate and boasted several sold-out shows, and thanks to donations, sponsors, and the crowds, HCPAC finished the year in the black.
"We can't do it without our volunteers and community support," said Mr. Roberts.
The next show scheduled is "Guys and Dolls," which will open on April 13. You can learn more about the show here.
"We want to let the community know what we're doing and that they can join us here for the exciting things coming up in 2023," said Mr. Roberts.
