Special election called for District 10 seat
Press Release
Governor Greg Abbott has issued a proclamation announcing Tuesday, Aug. 31, as the special election date for the Texas State House of Representatives District 10 seat recently vacated by Representative Jake Ellzey. District 10 includes portions of Western Henderson County.
Last week, Ellzey beat Susan Wright in a special election in Texas's 6th Congressional District. That seat was left open when Rep. Ron Wright died of COVID-19 in February.
Candidates for District 10 who wish to have their names placed on the special election ballot must file their applications with the Secretary of State no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 12.
Early voting will begin on Monday, August 23, 2021.
