MALAKOFF -- A truck containing produce and dairy products bound for needy families in East Texas unloaded in Malakoff Thursday morning.
The delivery was arranged by Diana and Tommy Hayes of Malakoff, who are missionaries with Rural Compassion.
“This is one of four trucks we’ve brought into Texas,” Tommy said. “This is to be distributed to churches to help them reach their communities.”
Thursday’s delivery was delivered to 10 churches from around East Texas, including churches from surrounding counties.
Each truck includes 22 pallets of produce, milk and dairy products, and each church will be able to reach about 300 families.
Rural Compassion is a part of Convoy of Hope, which is “a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a driving passion to feed the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, and disaster response.”
Tommy said the mission is non denominational.
“It doesn’t matter what’s on the sign, we want them to reach their community,” he said.
