Dr. Coy Holcombe to Retire
Eustace ISD Superintendent Dr. Coy Holcombe will be retiring at the end of the current school year. That news was announced in a post on the school district's Facebook Page. The post included Dr. Holcombe's resignation letter.
Dear Staff Members,
I hope this email finds you and your family safe and healthy. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that I will be submitting my letter of retirement to the EISD Board of Trustees at the September 20 regular board meeting. I will be retiring at the end of June 2022.
I appreciate the opportunity that I have had working with each and every one of you. Whether it has been for one year or twenty-one years, I am thankful that I had the chance to know and work with each of you. We still have a lot more to accomplish this year and I look forward to working with everyone to ensure that we continue to provide all of our students with a world-class education.

Devious Licks
(From the Athens TX Police Department Facebook Page) A new social media challenge called "Devious Licks" has children around the country stealing things and damaging property so they can post their actions on TikTok.
"Lick" is slang for theft and the trending challenge calls on kids to steal things like soap dispensers from public bathrooms and yes, it is happening here in Athens, Texas.
The Athens Police Department wants to remind everyone that theft and destruction of property for any reason is illegal and those who do it can be prosecuted.
TikTok has started removing "Devious Lick" videos and issued the following statement: "We expect our community to stay safe and create responsibly, and we do not allow content that promotes or enables criminal activities. We are removing this content and redirecting hashtags and search results to our Community Guidelines to discourage such behavior."

Trash Bash
The 30th Annual TRWD Trash Bash is this weekend, Sept. 18 – 19. Choose any spot around Cedar Creek Lake and bring a group, a friend, or just yourself to clean up our river and reservoirs.
The TRWD Fall Trash Bash provides the entire weekend to plan your clean-up efforts. The steps are simple: pick up your t-shirt and supplies from the designated location (check the webpage for details), then begin your clean-up whenever it works best for you.
Dumpsters will be placed conveniently at each location. Larger debris such as tires, lumber, etc. may be left on the bank for later disposal.
