It's down to the Final Four in Class 3A, Division 1. There's only Malakoff, Brock, Franklin, and Edna left.

Thursday night, Malakoff will face Brock for the opportunity to play in the State Championship. As you would expect, it isn't going to be easy.

"Brock kind of set the standard," said Malakoff Coach Jamie Driskell. "They played in the state championship the last two years. They have a ton of seniors that have played on both of those teams."

Malakoff learned just how good the Brock Eagles are last year, falling to them 21-10 in the state semifinal round at The Star in Frisco. They face each other again this year in the same place and round.

"Our kids obviously remember last year," said Coach Driskell. "We're going to take some of that experience that we got last year and hopefully harness it in the right direction."

The Eagles are big and strong in the trenches and very sound offensively and defensively, which you would expect from two-time state finalists.

But, even though they know it will be a battle Thursday night, the Tigers wouldn't have it any other way.

Everyone understands what it takes to maintain this level of excellence, from the trainers and managers to the stars and the coaches. They've sacrificed and sweated to get here.

"I hope people understand the time and effort that the kids, the coaches, everybody puts in," said Coach Driskell. "We're going to do our best and get after these guys."
