The TVCC Cardinals held Angelina College to single digits for the first 17 minutes Wednesday night on their way to a 68-46 conference win over the Roadrunners.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 19-0 lead and never looked back as Coach Greg Heiar's squad played the in-your-face defense they've made a trademark this season. Once again, it was a TVCC team effort with 13 Cardinals logging minutes to move the team to 11-0 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
TVCC was led by Cameron Williams with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Tyler Smith with 13 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
M.J. Wardlow added 12 points, Kalen White had 11, Derrell Bateman and Camarion Johnson both had 6, and Garrett Nuckolls, Tre'lin Green, and Zati Loubaki each had 2.
The Cardinals led the Roadrunners at the half, 39-16.
The Cardinals are on the road Saturday to take on No. 4-ranked Panola to close out the early part of their season. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
