Results were mixed for the Lady Cardinal and Cardinal basketball teams in classic action over the weekend.
The No. 1-ranked Lady Cardinals went 2-0 in the Grayson Classic in Denison, defeating Texas Jewels, 91-28, and No. 4 South Plains, 51-36.
In the East-West Challenge in Plano, the Cardinals fell 69-55 to New Mexico and 86-61 to Howard.
Briana Peguero led the Lady Cardinals against Texas Jewels with 18 points. Abby Cater and Pashonnay Johnson had 12 each, Emani Jenkins 11 and Lydie Mwamba 10.
Mimi McCollister paced the win against South Plains with 13 points. Lafaedria Green netted 10.
Quevian Adger was the Cardinals’ top scorer against New Mexico with 18 points. Micah Clark had 10.
Adger and Clark scored 14 each against Howard. Zaakir Sawyer tossed in 11.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to return to action Thursday in the Midland College WNIT. They play Odessa at 6 p.m.
The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Tuesday against the Texas Riders at 7 p.m.
