Mimi McCollister drained a pair of free throws with :04 seconds left to give the Lady Hornets a 45-43 road win over Van Friday night.
The win improves the Lady Hornets to 5-2 in district play.
Athens suffered through a horrible third quarter shooting during which the Lady Hornets were outscored 13-2, but heated up in the fourth to overcome an 8-point deficit. Karlie Cook came up huge for Athens in the quarter, hitting three 3-pointers.
Athens was led by McCollister with 21 points. Cook had 9 points, McKenzie Hair and Tori Williams each had 6, and Kyra Dawson added 3.
Van was led by Skylar Dawson with 16 points.
The Lady Hornets will return to the court Tuesday night when the host Canton.
