Henderson County sees large jump in COVID recoveries

Henderson County Judge Wade McKinney and I often speak about COVID-19 data dumps during our weekly interview. Well, one of those data dumps happened Friday, causing a big adjustment to the county’s number of active cases.
Wednesday, NET Health listed Henderson County with 238 recoveries. By Friday, that number had jumped to 433.
“We’ve talked about this numerous times, about how the recoveries lag due to the demands on the new (cases) coming into our seven-county region,” McKinney said during our podcast this week.
According to a NET Health press release:
Persons with symptoms of COVID-19 are Recovered when at least 14 days have passed since symptoms first appeared, the individual has had improvement in symptoms, AND at least 3 days have passed while being fever-free without using fever-reducing medications.
Persons who did not have any symptoms but were tested as COVID-positive are designated as Recovered when 22 days have passed since the date their laboratory test specimens were collected.
As of Friday, Aug. 21, NET Health showed Henderson County as having 310 active cases.
“As schools resume in our northeast Texas communities, we must continue our vigilance against COVID-19,” says George Roberts, NET Health CEO. “Everyone is still asked to stay home if you are sick, physical distance yourself from others as much as possible, wear a face covering at public locations, disinfect commonly used surfaces, and wash your hands as often as possible with soap and water for at least 30 seconds.”
