For centuries, theaters have kept a ghost light shining on darkened stages—a beacon of safety, hope, and the promise of future performances. Now, Henderson County Performing Arts Center (HCPAC) is launching its own Ghost Light Campaign, a crucial fundraising effort aimed at upgrading the theater’s aging lighting, sound system, and production technology.
“The Ghost Light Campaign is more than a fundraiser—it’s a promise to keep the arts alive in Henderson County for generations to come,” said HCPAC Board President Beau Humble. “Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission of providing quality theater experiences and arts education.”
Following a post-pandemic lighting replacement on a limited budget, HCPAC now faces widespread equipment failures, leaving productions struggling with dim, unreliable lighting. The current system is at maximum capacity, even with borrowed lights, making it clear that a lasting solution is needed.
“This campaign is about more than just fixing our lights,” Ghost Light Campaign Committee Chair Matt Cleaver shared. “It’s about creating an environment where actors, students, and audiences can experience theater at its best. The arts are a vital part of our community, and this investment ensures we can continue inspiring and educating for years to come.”
These improvements will enable actors, stage crews, and musicians to deliver top-quality performances, enriching the local arts scene. With professional-grade equipment now in place, HCPAC is committed to providing hands-on training preparing the next generation for successful careers in the arts industry. This state-of-the-art system represents a significant investment in the community’s cultural future, ensuring HCPAC remains a cornerstone of local arts and education for decades to come.
The Goal: A Brighter Future for HCPAC
The Ghost Light Campaign aims to raise $175,000 to install a high-quality, long-lasting lighting and sound system. This investment will not only enhance productions but also elevate educational opportunities for aspiring performers and technicians.
Thanks to early support, $36,000 has already been raised, including multiple generous $5,000 donations. However, we need the community’s help to keep this campaign moving forward.
