Henderson County hits single-day high for COVID-19 cases

Henderson County saw its largest single-day jump in the number of COVID-19 cases Thursday, with NET Health reporting 7 new cases. That breaks the previous record of 5, which we reached three times.
Henderson County has had 22 new cases reported in the past seven days (6-19 to 6-25).
As of Thursday, there were 54 active cases in the county. That number is expected to go down Friday, however, because that is the day NET Health updates the recovery statistics.
"Recovered cases are reported more slowly than active cases," said County Judge Wade McKinney. "If (contact tracers) cannot complete the follow up with a patient, that case will automatically remain active for 30 days."
Hospitalizations in the Tyler/Longview Trauma Service Area (TSA), which includes Henderson County, went from 54 on Monday to 62 on Friday. There are just under 1 million people in the TSA.
Judge McKinney and I spoke about COVID-19 in the county on Wednesday. You can listen to that interview here.
