The Henderson County HELP Center will host a gala to honor "The Legacy of Angels Among Us" 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, featuring Jenna Quinn, the driving force behind Jenna's Law.
The Henderson County HELP Center has been supporting families and children since 1987. The HELP Center has created programs to promote self-sufficiency and well-being for many families and children, including Maggie's House Child Advocacy Center.
Since 2000, Maggie's House has provided free supportive services to children and families dealing with issues of child abuse and neglect. Maggie's House offers forensic interviews, medical and counseling services, and long-term case management.
Since its inception, Maggie's House has supported 12,188 child victims of abuse with healing and restoration with the numbers increasing every year.
The funds raised through the Gala will support the services provided by Maggie's House.
Tickets for the Gala are $75, which includes dinner, live and silent auctions, and guest speaker Jenna Quinn. Angels Among Us awards will be presented to seven local residents and officials.
Jenna has been an outspoken advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse and spearheaded the campaign for what is now known as Jenna’s Law in Texas. Unanimously passed by the Texas State Senate and House, Jenna’s Law was the first child sexual abuse prevention law in the U.S. named after a survivor. It requires K-12 training for students and school staff and was amended in 2017 to include sex trafficking prevention education in schools. More than half of all states have now adopted a form of Jenna’s Law.
