COVID-19 hospitalizations hit new high
COVID-19 hospitalizations in the reporting region which includes Henderson County (TSA-G) went over 800 patients for the first time this weekend. According to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) update on Sunday, there were 819 patients hospitalized for COVID-19.
To put that into context, the previous high before the current surge came on Jan. 7 when there were 684 COVID-19 patients.
The DSHS dashboard now also shows a breakdown of COVID-19 patients, showing how many are in ICU and how many are pediatric patients.
DSHS is also reporting there have been 235 COVID-19 deaths in Henderson County since the beginning of the pandemic, with 32 of those coming since Aug. 1.
**Henderson County is part of Trauma Service Area G (TSA-G), which serves Tyler/Longview and includes about 968,000 people.
