Cardinals fall fall 3-0 to Northeastern in National Tournament opener

The 12th-seeded Cardinals came up short Wednesday in their opening match at the 2024 NJCAA DI Volleyball Championship Tournament in Clarksville, TN. They fell 15-25, 25-27, 23-25) to No. 5-seeded Northeastern.
The loss dropped the Cardinals, in their third straight national tournament appearance and fourth overall, to 23-15 on the season and into the consolation bracket. They are scheduled to face No. 4 Blinn today at 1 p.m. in an elimination match. Blinn was stunned in its tournament opener, losing 3-0 to No. 13 Colby.
Sara Gamboa led the Cardinals with 16 kills. Gamboa scored 16.5 points.
Genesis Rodriguez finished with 14 digs and Zoe Gun had 10. Vitoria Gasparini had eight.
Northeastern is scheduled to play Colby tonight at 7.
