Cardinal Volleyball goes 1-1 at Regional Tournament; awaits possible at-large National Tournament berth

The Cardinals went 1-1 at the Region XIV Volleyball Tournament in Brenham over the weekend.
Now, Coach Aleah Hayes and her squad play the waiting game. Four at-large berths to the national tournament Nov. 20-23 in Clarksville, TN will be announced later this week. The Cardinals, who finished fourth at the event last year, will be looking for a third straight appearance and fourth overall.
The Cardinals are 23-14 after their regional tournament split. They defeated Tyler 3-1 and then fell 3-0 to Navarro in the semifinals. Host Blinn was a 3-0 winner against Navarro in the championship match to earn the region's automatic national tournament berth.
Cardinal freshman Sara Gamboa was named to the all-tournament team. She had 32 kills, averaging 2.3 per set, and 17 digs and three blocks.
