Cardinal Softball sweeps Ranger

In their home-opening doubleheader Saturday, the Cardinals swept Ranger, winning 9-5 and 14-6 (5 innings).
The sweep improved the Cardinals to 2-2 on the season.
The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Tuesday against Seminole State. Twinbill action starts at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park at 1 p.m.
In Game 1 against Ranger, the Cardinals used a 6-run fourth inning, powered by a three-run Ashlyn Seaton home run. Seaton led the Cardinals at the plate with three hits and four RBI.
Jalissa Alicea picked up the win in the circle. She struck out seven, allowed five hits, and walked just one.
Rawnie Westrate had the big stick for the Cardinals in Game 2. Westrate drove in six runs on a pair of home runs and a double.
Also getting multiple hits in a 15-hit attack were Alondra Vasquez, Abigail Garcia, and Alicea.
Lena Sellam had a home run for the Cardinals.
Seaton was the winning pitcher.
The Cardinals took control of the game with an 8-run second inning.
