Athens ISD announced some district level personnel changes Wednesday evening in a press release and on the district’s Facebook page.
Each of the changes elevates an existing employee.
“One of the strengths of this district is the depth we have on the leadership level, both in the administration building and at each campus. I can’t think of a better team to work with as we navigate unprecedented challenges,” said Superintendent Dr. Janie Sims in the press release.
Below are the changes as explained in the press release.
Effective immediately, Ginger Morrison is shifting from director of federal programs and human resources to assistant superintendent of school operations. The move expands the top-level team, which also includes Jami Ivey, assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and accountability.
While human resources will continue to fall under Morrison’s purview, Dr. Cathy Kirkland, formerly coordinator of special programs and district testing, has been named the new director of federal programs.
In addition, Director of Maintenance and Operations Barry Choate is now executive director of maintenance and operations with an office in the administration building.
Morrison joined Dr. Sims in our podcast about the district’s COVID guidelines and precautions as students return to class. You can listen to that discussion here.
