Athens ISD hosted its Second Annual Health Science Career Fair on Tuesday.
CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Francis Health System was back again with more than a dozen career stations in the AISD gym, including business services, EMS, ER, inpatient nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory, surgery, and more.
Students can realize the different career paths in health care at the fair, said AISD Health Science teacher Natalie Tappan.
"It draws the attention of not only those interested in the health industry, but we had a law class come through with their teacher," she said. "Some people don't really know what options there are for them."
That is the reason CHRISTUS created this program.
Siretha Ajayi is the Mission Integration Program Director for CHRISTUS and was a key person in getting the career fair program started.
"We know health care is one of those industries that will always be needed," she said. "Introducing and educating students on health care is very important and them seeing what opportunities are out there."
"I think a lot of kids don't know, outside of being a physician or a nurse, what's out there," she said.
In addition to Athens, students from Eustace, Malakoff, Kemp, LaPoynor, and Mabank took part in the fair.
