Athens Caps Successful Tournament With Bracket Win

The Athens Lady Hornets beat Elkhart, 2-0, Saturday evening to win the Bronze Bracket of the annual Athens Volleyball Tournament.

"We really had to bounce back after a poor start Thursday," said Coach Arron Austin. "We challenged the girls to work on doing all the little things better every time we were on the floor. They improved throughout the day, swept the bracket, and took home first. We are really happy with their ability to make adjustments from one match to the next."

The win capped a successful tournament not only for the Lady Hornets but for the district which hosted 24 teams in the three-day event.

In addition to Athens, other bracket winners included Lake Belton (Gold) and Neches (Silver).

The Lady Hornets are scheduled to return to action Tuesday night when they host Crandall. Subvarsity begins at 5 p.m.
