Arboretum Veterans Day ceremony scheduled

Event set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10

The East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Veterans Memorial Wall at 1601 Patterson Road in Athens. The event will feature speakers such as Dr. Kyle Henderson from First Baptist Church Athens and Russell J. Normandin retired Master Sergeant US Marine Corp. Additionally, there will be choir performances by ACPA Elementary Students directed by Cassie Sanders and TVCC Choir directed by Kern Railsback. The ceremony will include Marie Hickman Regent, Daniel McMahon Chapter, NSDAR, and VFW Post 7103, Athens. Admission to this event is free, and all venues at the Arboretum are handicap accessible, with handicapped parking available. In case of rain, the alternate plan will be under the pavilion.
