Stage Notes Academy of Performing Arts announces its cast for Disney & Cameron Macintosh’s "Mary Poppins" set to take the stage in March at their new location in downtown Athens. “Mary Poppins’ is Stage Notes’ inaugural performance at 224 N Prairieville Street located in the historic downtown square of Athens.
“We are so excited to be renovating this historic building,” Troy Martin, Business Manager for Stage Notes said. “The history this building, and all downtown has is phenomenal and we are so excited to have this place up and running soon to join all the wonderful downtown buildings! All our neighbors are so nice, and we are so thankful for their support.”
While the building is under renovation, the cast and crew of ‘Mary Poppins’ have been working hard on getting the show ready. Stage Notes’ version of this iconic show is under the direction of Karen Holmes, Executive Director of Stage Notes. Chandler Hinojoza serves as Assistant Director and Ami Lorance serves as Stage Manager.
“We have a top-notch crew heading up this production and would not be able to do it without them,” Martin said.
The cast includes Elizabeth Teague as Mary Poppins in a role that made Julie Andrews a household name. Portraying Bert, the narrator of the show and George’s conscience, is Joshua Rodriguez. The Banks family, which is the heart of the show, is lead by Troy Martin and Savannah Joblin-Smith as George and Winifred Banks. Jane and Michael Banks, their children, are portrayed by Ellie Collins, Kyleigh Underhill, and Kylie Killian. This show features many highly featured parts and wonderful ensembles. Portraying several characters throughout the show includes Alexandra Parker, Sariah Holmes, E Robb, Vanessa Onyskow-Lang, Lin Humphrey, Elliot Ward, Hannah Williams, Delilah Leos, River Lang, Kenyon Walker, Anita Joblin, Cameron Griffis, Roy Griffis, Cisco Flores, Bree Wright, and Alisa Griffis.
“When you get a cast that really clicks, that has amazing chemistry, you know you’ve got something special,” Director Karen Holmes said. “This is a magical cast, perfect for Mary Poppins! Every single person, from ensemble to leads, is 100% about creating the magic. They are a joy to work with and it is so exciting to watch as they develop each character. It’s going to be a spectacular show!”
Tickets are on sale now and limited. Stage Notes Academy of Performing Arts has assigned seating so you would need to pick your seats, the earlier you get them, the better chance you have at getting seats you want.
